Gestalt therapy is a psychotherapeutic method, focusing mainly on the present, the here-and-now. In the present moment people have their memories, joys, hopes and wishes, fantasies, sorrows and fears that often take over their minds, causing anxiety and feelings of inadequacy. Most people live under the guidance of their old habits and beliefs, either ruminating on the past or worrying about the future. This ties up energy and takes away one’s attention from the present moment. Worry and anxiety can manifest themselves as psychic problems, physical pains and illnesses.
